“Private Island? Yes Please, my thoughts on Fuji Island by Fujifilm -and their new Fuji X-T3.”
Imagine your’e on the beach in the middle of somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean, at your very own private island, with your own private chef, staff and anything you want to do just at your fingertips. Only in a dream, right. Well not any longer, this was my reality for a few nights at Fuji Island in Fiji, thanks to the team at Fujifilm. This October I was extremely fortunate to spend a few nights at the ever so picturesque Fuji Island in lieu of their latest release of the Fujifilm camera X-T3.

In what I can only describe as a private “Queenslander” home, Fuji Island (normally known as Wadigi Island) has been graced with guests of the rich and the famous. Fuji Island is what you would call a photographic wonderland. Crystal clear lagoons, white sandy beaches tippled with luscious palm trees, combined with great food, good wine, fresh coconuts. Relaxation was instant the moment my toes touched the sand!
The FUJIFILM connection?
Created by FUJIFILM, the island comes with the latest camera equipment – including FUJIFILM’s brand new X-T3 mirrorless camera, world-famous lenses and a range of other photography goodies.
The X-T3 + accessories
There was a 56mm, 16mm and a 16-55mm lens. Our favourite by far was the 56mm, creating that perfect “portrait style shot” like this one.
FUJIFILM has unveiled its soon to be released X-T3 mirrorless digital camera. The X-T3 is the latest model in the X Series range, renowned for its unique colour reproduction technology and ability to deliver outstanding image quality in both stills and video.
It did take us a while to get the hang of shooting on the camera, however the photos that we produced where phenomenal! The photo below is straight from the camera – no editing, no filters, just good sunlight!

Where?
Normally known as Wadigi Island, Fuji Island is located just a short helicopter ride from Nadi, Fiji. You can opt to fly in by helicopter – straight onto your very own private heli pad, or get a water taxi. Note: Opt for the heli, it is such an incredible way to see Fiji (see below)

The Private Island Accommodation
Think of Fuji Island as your very own private Queenslander, with 3 bedrooms, a communal living area and your very own plunge pool, plus the help of 9 dedicated staff members to help you with anything you need.
The food
Our personal chef used fresh ingredients, with deliciously healthy meals like mango, avocado and prawn salsa. Every single dish was insta worthy! Something that I really struggle with normally is chefs catering for me, as I have annoying allergies and intolerances, so it was a breath of fresh air when they went out of their way to make me feel not as a hinderance, but something they loved doing!

Things to do
Relax, snorkel, stand up paddle board, surf, snap photos, go for a swim in the pool, read a book, watch the NRL footy final (Mr B was very happy), kayak, windsurf, fishing. Basically anything water related you want to do from your own private Island is at your fingertips.

Overall
Our stay on Fuji Island was a seriously relaxing 2 nights, where we indulged in good healthy food, good cocktails and one of the most beautiful tropical surroundings we have stayed in, all while we got to play with the new Fuji X-T3 and shoot with some great lenses! I am almost embarrassed I haven’t made my way to Fiji sooner, being such a short trip away from Sydney! A must for a little relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.
All you need to bring is yourself, a mate (or not! The staff know their way around the Fuji X-T3), some clothes, swimmers, a good book & a memory card.
