Staycation Sydney

“The luxury lifestyle hotel features all the things we love about Swiss craftsmanship “

My Swissotel Sydney Review, part of my Staycation Sydney during September ’19.

Staycations are becoming the ‘it thing’ lately, With the commute being a little over an hour and a half to the CBD, I jumped at the opportunity to have my own little staycation at the Swissotel Sydney while my partner was overseas.

Located in the heart of Sydney’s central business district. The Swissotel Sydney is a 5 star hotel in arguably one of the best spots in Sydney for those that are looking to be right amongst it. With Pitt Street Mall literally at the doorstep, and within walking distance to the likes of the Sydney State Theatre, Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

The luxury lifestyle hotel features all the things we love about Swiss craftsmanship. From the modern chandelier in the lobby to the dark tones and geometric accents throughout the guest rooms and public areas, the precise finishes reflect Sydney glamour with a Swiss inspired twist.

Check’n In

I had pre organised valet parking with the hotel prior to me arriving, and luckily I had! I pulled up to the front in a taxi no stopping area, to be honest, I was a little confused and unsure if I had come to the right place. However, as I got out of the car, I was greeted by a very lovely Swissotel staff member, who had been waiting for me (as I gave my rego to the staff before arriving). I handed over my keys and walked inside, the lobby is on the 8thlevel, so I made my way from the ground level to the lobby to check in. Exiting the lift and walking into the lobby, I immediately take note of the sheer size of the lobby. The check in itself was swift and easy and I was up to my room within minutes and I was ready to say hello to my Staycation Sydney weekend.

The Room

There are 369 rooms and suites within the Swissotel Sydney, which offer a modern and contemporary setting for your stay. I would say that there would be a mix of leisure and business stays at the hotel, with my personal opinion being that the hotel would be best fit for a business traveller.

Swissotel Executive Suite

I was in the Swiss Executive Suite which was extremely spacious with a separate living area. Perfect for those that wanted to zone out their sleep and workspaces. The living room had a dining table, Nespresso set up, lounge and desk area, giving ample space to spread out.

In the bedroom you have a view of the city and Sydney Tower with wood panelling above the king bed, and dark geometric carpet. The bathroom again followed through with the geometrical theme, and boasts a shower and bath tub and a separate room for the toilet.

Food & Beverage

As I was having a girly Staycation Sydney weekend, we had planned to head to High Tea straight after check in. The standard set up for high tea on Saturday & Sunday is a buffet high tea, however as we had some dietary requirements, the staff had organised a set high tea (normally available Mon-Fri) which had been tailored to our gluten free request. We were pleasantly surprised with the selection of gluten free items, with the little gf mini savoury tarts and macaroons being the winners.

We opted to dine out for dinner, however the hotel offers guests with the option of JPB restaurant for dinner (and also buffet breakfast). For a more casual setting Crossroads Bar is open all day.

Pool & Gym

The Gym, pool and spa are located on the 10thlevel. As you walk out of the lift you will see Swissotel Sydney Spa & Sport to your right. We were fortunate enough to be given a bit of a pamper session, with myself opting for a facial, and my friend Ally opting for one of the hotel’s Purovel Signature massages. The Spa area is tranquil and intimate with 4 treatment rooms just off the relaxation lounge.

My facial was relaxing (to the point where I fell asleep!) and Ally’s massage was just what she needed. We both left feeling rejuvenated and extremely relaxed.

The pool area is located on an outdoor deck area on level 10, with the weather warming up here in Sydney, this would be the perfect spot for a quick little dip. The Gym area is filled with natural daylight but I did feel that is was small.

Level 9 is where you will find the executive lounge, which overlooks the lobby and bar area. The amenities here are perfect for those guests that are travelling for work and it has a separate complimentary buffet breakfast area to help fuel you before your day. What type of Swissotel Sydney Review would be complete if I didn’t at least have a nibble.

Pros:

  • Great location
  • Spacious suites

Cons:

  • The pool & gym are only open from 5am to 9pm, so for those internationally travellers or those night owls wanting to sneak in a little workout when jet lagged it can be a little limiting.
Staycation Sydney

Overall:

The Swissotel Sydney is a great hotel for those looking for a little Staycation Sydney weekend or for international travellers. The hotel in my opinion would be perfect for a guest travelling for business either interstate or internationally due to the ideal location and the executive lounge.
