Guilt Free Treats
These delicious little gems make a regular appearance on special occasions. This Chocolate Dipped Strawberries made from cacao powder + coconut oil is the perfect special treat without the guilt. It is a healthier version from your run of the mill chocolate dipped strawberries as it is lower in sugar & higher in good fats.
This recipe also it takes the exact same time to melt down the mixture as it would a chocolate bar. Plus doing it yourself you can always check the quality of the strawberries (or any fruit) before coating them. So the question is who wouldn’t like a healthier, cheaper and just as quick version.
Get creative and dip them in your favourite nuts, coconut, chia seeds, LSA, seeds…anything your heart desires!
Strawberries are packed with vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols. Strawberries are a sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food. They are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity and are a good source of manganese and potassium.
Cacao one of the main benefits of using cacao + coconut oil mixture rather then just melting down your favourite chocolate bar and dipping the strawberries in that, is it’s rich in antioxidants, which lower free radicals, which are chemicals that can alter or damage the body. It also has higher amounts of good fats.
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries Recipe
A punnet of strawberries
1 cup cacao nibs/dark chocolate
2 tablespoons cacao powder
1 teaspoon stevia
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
- Combine all ingredients in a microwavable safe bowl. Zap in 30 second intervals, stirring regularly until the nibs/choc is melted. You can also do this over a double boiler on the stove.
- Once fully melted, dip your strawberries in. Re-Dip your strawberries in your desired coating (I have chosen shredded coconut, crushed pepitas and chia seeds.
- Let set in the fridge for approx 20-30 mins.
