    Check’n In

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]One of the main selling points for me was the location. Having just arrived into Hong Kong and seeing all the development and gentrification of the city, I wanted to experience the old, authentic parts of Hong Kong. Located further west of the island in Sheung Wan, the neighbourhood has maintained the look and feel of timeworn Hong Kong. Many of the street vendors still sell traditional Cantonese products, such as the many, many different types of dried seafood.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”38216″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text]Unfortunately in saying that, there is still a lot dried shark fin floating around these shops. Which is such a shame to see because of the inhumane way of harvesting it. Our guide Yan did say that the government was trying to outlaw this, which I guess is a positive but until it’s actually implemented, it’s just a nice thought.[/vc_column_text][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width=”6″ gap=”3″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1496374178955-2a0cceff-b52b-0″ include=”38211,38209,38210,38212,38208,38235″][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

    The Room

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We were in the harbour view room, the room was dated but substantial. It had all of the necessary amenities and fittings required for a pleasant business stay. The room had a standard bathroom (fit with shower and bath tub) along with a floor to ceiling mirror and a large vanity.

The room was spacious enough to spread out, and have a little setup for a working space ( if this isn’t enough, the business lounge has plenty of room with a lovely harbour or building view).[/vc_column_text][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width=”6″ gap=”3″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1496374178961-772c948e-e895-10″ include=”37988,37987″][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

    Food & Beverage

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

The buffet at Centre Street Kitchen provides you a host of food options that are both healthy and delicious.

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”38259″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

    Pool & Gym

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Island Pacific offers guests the use of the outdoor pool, gym and business centre and a free shuttle bus service to the city.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”37991″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

    Pros:

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

    • Value for money
    • Lovely view with large windows
    • Business Centre

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

    Cons:

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

    • A little basic in some areas (Sino group is starting renovations in the near future and with the Olympian and Pottinger under their belt I’m excited to see what they have in store)

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”37981″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

    Overall:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Island Pacific is a great hotel if you want a good affordable hotel (Hong Kong Standards) in the center of one of Hong Kong’s most untouched, authentic and cultural spots.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]Island Pacific
