China Sightseeing Tips : The Great Wall, Pandas & More

So much has happened for #KrumbleAbroad in the past month! I thought I would do a really quick recap on my China Sightseeing Tips – The Great Wall, Pandas & so much more. I cannot wait to share with you all exactly what I have been getting up to (trust me it is a lot haha) I am actually going backwards in my month, and starting from my final week here in China.

Well now, let’s do a quick recap of where I went, stayed, saw and most of all, ate!

Shanghai

Shanghai was pretty manic, in between hotel tours, meetings and getting our bearings, we decided to jump on a double decker bus and let our legs get some rest.

Highlight of the double decker was believe it or not, seeing the impressive road and bridge systems. The way that they build roads on top of roads upon more roads, is pretty cool (nothing like you get in my home town in Aus!)

Hotels: Banyan Tree on the Bund & Fairmont Peace Hotel Shanghai. Both hotels were honestly two of my favourite hotels for the entire month long trip, both for extremely different reasons too! You will see why this is in the next week or so.

Food: I didn’t get much of a chance to venture out food wise in Shanghai which is unfortunate, however I did have 2 great meals at each hotel which I will share later in the hotel review posts

Must See: The Bund, The road system, Shanghai Tower, Jade Buddha

Chengdu

My main goal for my trip was to get up close and personal with a Panda. I was actually quite impressed with Chengdu, to be honest, I wasn’t really expecting anything like it was!

My panda encounter will be posted in a completely separate post, full with videos, so stay tuned for this!!

Hotels: I stayed at two hotels in Chengdu; The Fairmont & The Temple House. Both in two pretty different locations, so was great to get out and about and explore both of these areas.

Food: Don’t make the same mistake I did and boast about being able to handle hot food, because I can assure you, being in the Sichuan region, these folks like it hot.

Must see: Panda Base, Buddha at Leshan

Beijing

Well, you can’t go to China (in my opinion) and not go and see the Great Wall. Beijing, I have been told, is a great spot to get in some Great Wall action, we had a fantastic tour guide named Debbie, an absolute sweet heart! I will be doing a whole big post on The Great Wall – where the best and the worst spots (crowds etc) are soon.

Hotels: Fairmont Beijing

Food: Similar to Shanghai, I didn’t get a chance to eat out much as we were SO busy with sightseeing!

Must See: The Great Wall, Ming Tombs, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square

So that is it for now, if you want to know anything else or see any specific China related (or even anything Travel) related let me know in the comments below!

Benefit x The Upside

When I received an invite in the mail for a morning full of yoga and then a Sydney Harbour Bridge climb, I couldn’t help but feel excited.

Benefit x The Upside teamed up for a morning of relaxation, laughter and most of all, a flawless filter free event.

I honestly couldn’t have planned it better, the weather (amidst one of Sydney’s worst weeks of rain in quite sometime) the sun came out, the yoga class by none other than Kate from Flow Athletic in Paddington was actually a little tough (hadn’t stretched from a workout the day before! Whoooops) but nonetheless it was relaxing. Then it was off to the bridge for a harbour climb.

Here are some snaps from the day!

A big thanks to both Benefit & The Upside for organising such a fab filter free morning.

To say that I like to travel is a little bit of an understatement, combining this with my love of food, well, let’s just say, if it wasn’t for my little fur babies,

I might never come home

I am all about making lists, so I thought it might be a good time for me to pen my bucket list (queue Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson)

To stick to 50 was near impossible, so I have added a few bonus points (just because I can), now, I have already been fortunate enough to do things like Swim with turtles at Heron Island, Go to San Fran and cycle across Golden Gate Bridge, so I have started my list from today, 16th January 2017 – call it my, new years resolution if you like, the year of travel, laughter and food…(my resolution every year I would say!)

In no order whatsoever, here is my bucket list…

Back in August this year, I was part of the Lancome’s #UltraSquad Campaign in lieu of the launch of their newest technology: The Teint Idole Ultra.

Our squad consisted of Myself, Chloe Morello, Bonnie Gillies, Georgia Gibbs & Molly X.

It is refreshing working on a campaign for a product that I actually adore and use on a frequent basis – especially traveling and running in and out of meetings. What is so special and unique about this product, is that there is no worry to lug your foundation bottle with you everywhere you go to, with the fear of it leaking or breaking. I am not a big fan of pressed powders as I prefer a dewier natural look, so this is a perfect alternative (think a compact size, with a cushion that acts as a damp beauty blender).

Check out some BTS of my shoot below

A massive thank you to Jeep for “pimping” our trip with 2 super cute Jeep Renegades, these bad boys made us get down there safely and in comfort.

Have you tried the new cushion technology? What is your favourite foundation? Leave your comments and questions below!

Late July of this year, I was fortunate enough to join some of Australia’s top insta-babes and bloggers for a weekend adventure at Thredbo with the Emu team! I had pumped myself up for a fun weekend and what really took me by surprise was how gorgeous some of the girls were. I had an awesome time at Thredbo with these talented ladies and cannot wait for our next trip away! What I also didn’t know was just how versatile and snug Emu (click here) boots were!

To the point where I now have them in a rotation in my shoe collection back in Sydney (a way to a girls heart is through a good shoe cupboard right?) The only problem is I can’t quite pick which one my favourite is?

Ladies, let me introduce you to The Lip Lab.  Where all of your lippy dreams can come true. Get ready to create your dream lipstick or gloss, 100% customised down to shade, scent and even name.

Based in Paddington, Sydney (soon to be expanding) the girls at the Lip Lab have revolutionised the way I think about my lippies. The whole process is super fun and gets you really thinking about that ‘perfect pigment’, while only taking roughly 30 mins. Thinking this might be too good to be true and it costing big $$ for this service? Think again! With starting prices as low as $55.

My two colours I made were: K-floss (which is a gorgeous peachy nude) and Show us your nudes (which is a deep nude, with a hazelnut scent! Pictured below). My girl @theonlyblondeone (pictured below) created her very own “the only bronze one”.

Fashion On Deck

I was extremely fortunate enough to attend Jessica Minh Anh (renowned global fashion sensation) J Spring 2016 fashion show. It took place onboard the sundeck of the Costa Luminosa, with the backdrop a full interrupted view of the harbour. Jessica’s vision for modern fashion and couture forward thinking, created a lot of hype and anticipation for her upcoming show, so as you can imagine I was pretty excited to be attending!

On the morning of the event, the forecast for the day looked promising, with recent days being torrential rain, a lot of guests were nervous of the event being rained out, however, luck was on our side. In fact, it was rather hot and the issue of no shade was a little problematic!

The exclusive red carpet event premiered nearly 100 haute couture and ready to wear dresses from around the world. I personally wasn’t blown away with every outfit, but there definitely were some gorgeous pieces in the collection. The team from Lancome & Redken helped create futuristic looks. Jessica’s architectural hairstyle in the formation of the Sydney Harbour Bridge was a show stopper in itself.

The experience was sensational, having the runway on the top of Costa Luminosa, with the Sydney Harbour as the backdrop was breathtaking. Having already entertained and showcased her talent on top of the One World Trade Centre, Grand Canyon and Eifel Tower, I am very interested in where she will pop up next!

I wore a beautiful dress from Amy Taylor Collection which you can see more of here.

A big thankyou to J Model Management for inviting me.

I was first introduced to the Source Bulk Foods family last year, as part of their “Source Ambassador Program”. I was immediately intrigued by the idea of a Krumbled x SBF partnership as our household is always on the hunt to find waste free solutions, not to mention stock our pantry with sustainable produce.

Being Australia’s largest specialised bulk foods retailer, the husband and wife team (Paul & Emma) are taking Australia by storm. After making a sea change up to Byron, they decided to open their first store in Mullumbimby in 2012. Having now grown to over 20+ franchises, the Source family are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to reduce waste in a big way.

What to expect at a local “Source” store?

Waste-free packaging (bring your own bottles, jars, and packaging solutions, or opt to buy some of their gorgeous bottles/jars/containers. Great service (I am not just saying this because I am now part of the SBF family) The team go above and beyond to help you figure out great solutions for recipes, ideas, packaging options oh and did I mention they are nut butter gurus? A great range of bulk food products; organic, gluten free, paleo & vegan. Local support, being hands on with local charities and communities. And variety!

Where are they?

My local is the Willoughby Source. Head to their facebook page to see some great recipes!

Want to know more about SBF? Check them out here. Oh and if you don’t live near one of their many stores or simply don’t have time to go to a store, you can always shop on their online store!
