Raffles Grill (click here) is the Raffles Hotel’s Michelin Starred formal dining room. Located on the ground floor the restaurant is open to the public and features an extensive wine selection that complements an impeccable menu. Recalling the atmosphere of an elegant bygone era, Raffles Grill provides a culinary paradise combining the best of local culture and its’ cuisine with techniques from around the world. The menu is an exquisite blend of classical and contemporary French cuisine with a slight Asian flare in a sophisticated dining setting.
First opened in 1923, this elegant fine dining area is adorned with chandeliers and immaculately reconditioned period furnishings. The long slender room has an abundance of natural light that spills in through oversized classic French doors that overlooks the greenery of the Palm Court.
Also there is a dress code, so collared shirts for gents and no thongs or sandals for ladies.
What we ate:
TOMATO AND ARTICHOKE TART – w/ eggplant caviar, thyme vinaigrette
ROASTED SCALLOPS – w/ caponata, piprade sauce
MEDITERRANEAN SEA BASS – w/tomato gnocchi, sauce vierge
VEAL BLANQUETTE TORTELLI – w/ cured egg, pumpkin, black truffle
COCONUT RICE PUDDING – w/ caramlised macadamia, mango lime sorbet
PEACH CHANTILY – w/ brandied peach, lemon verbena ice cream
The standout dishes for me were the roasted scallops which were buttery soft and came with a collection of precisely manicured roasted vegetables and the coconut rice pudding was absolutely delicious. The toasted coconut wafer provides a nice little crunch to the velvety pudding and the sorbet was very refreshing.
Overall:
Dining at Raffles Grill creates a feeling like you have taken a step back in time to a more sophisticated and elegant period where their attention to detail and hospitality is first class.
